INTERNSHIP/TRAINING/DISSERTATION AT NCPOR:

The National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR), under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, is a premier Institution dedicated to Polar and Marine research. It plays a pivotal role in advancing scientific understanding of the Polar Regions and oceans. NCPOR's mandate encompasses a wide range of scientific activities, including Polar science and expeditions, Oceanographic research, Climate studies, and Environmental monitoring. The center's state-of-the-art facility, cutting-edge research, expert guidance, and multidisciplinary approach makes NCPOR an ideal hub for scholars and researchers, interested in exploring the complexities of polar and marine ecosystems.

NCPOR is a Research and Development institution having MoUs with various universities for carrying out doctoral programs. The Centre also provides internship opportunities to selected graduate and postgraduate students as a part of their curriculum. These sessions are conducted for a period of three to twelve months during both the summer and winter periods in the field of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences. For students seeking a vibrant and dynamic research environment, NCPOR offers a plethora of opportunities to delve into cutting-edge studies across various disciplines.


GUIDELINES FOR STUDENTS:

These guidelines provide a clear overview of the application process, expectations, and responsibilities for students participating in the internship/training/dissertation program at NCPOR in the specified fields (both offline and online modes).

• Eligibility: Applications of only the following students will be considered for scrutiny and final acceptance.

  1. B.Sc. / B.E. / BCA / B. Tech. - Final year students.
  2. M.Sc. / M.E. / MCA / M. Tech./ M.A - Pursuing.
  3. 5 years Integrated M.Sc./M.E./M. Tech. -Students from 3rd year onwards

• Duration:The internship/training/dissertation shall be for a period of three to twelve months, with intakes in the winter and summer periods.

• Application Process: Interested students need to submit an online application form along with their CV and a recommendation letter (in prescribed format) from the Head of the Department of    their University/College/Institution.

• Consent from NCPOR supervisor:Students are strongly encouraged tocontact and obtain consent from anNCPOR Scientistbefore applying for an internship/training/dissertation. This offers students the opportunity to exploretheresearch themes at NCPOR and discuss research topics/proposals with the prospective supervisor.

• Shortlisting: The names of shortlisted students, along with the assignedsupervisors, will be uploaded on the NCPOR website within a month of the closing date.

• Confirmation of Joining: Shortlisted students must confirm their willingness to join NCPOR via email within 7 days from the date of result declaration. Failure to confirm within this period will result in the cancellation of the application.

• Document Verification: Upon joining, it is mandatory for students to bring all original documents supporting the claims made in the application form. Copies of these documents should be submitted to the Administrative Section at NCPOR.

• Project Report: Each student is required to submit a report on their project work carried out at NCPOR.


Please Note:

1. Internship students (summer/winter session) will not be entitled to scholarships, medical facilities, or accommodation facilities at NCPOR.
2. Offline internship will be subject to COVID-19 protocol issued by the Government.
