The Indian Ocean Geoid Low (IOGL) program is one of the primary scientific themes being pursued by the Geoscience Division at NCPOR. Using a combination of geophysical and geological modelling tools, we strive to improve our understanding about various geodynamic aspects of the Indian Ocean. Our strength is a rich and diverse scientific expertise including marine geophysical data acquisition, analyses and numerical modelling. Our long-term goal is to image the lithosphere and deep mantle beneath the Indian Ocean. In this process, we enrich our knowledge about the India-Antarctica break up, evolution of rifted margins, one of the largest intra-plate crustal deformation, plume-ridge interactions and nature and source(s) of microseismic noise in this region. With every expedition, we continue to contribute to the advancement of the fundamental understanding of complex geodynamic processes.
