NCPOR at World Ocean Science Congress 2026

The National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR) proudly highlights its active participation in the World Ocean Science Congress 2026 (WOSC–2026) held at CSIR–NIO, Goa 

The inaugural ceremony was graced by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant, whose inspiring address underscored Goa’s emergence as a vibrant hub for ocean and coastal research. Dr. M. Ravichandran, Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, reaffirmed the nation’s strong commitment to advancing ocean science, climate resilience, and the Blue Economy.

On this significant occasion, Dr. Thamban Meloth, Director, NCPOR and Co-Chair of the National Organising Committee, emphasized India’s expanding polar and ocean research programmes and highlighted the importance of strengthening global scientific collaboration.

The inaugural dais was also graced by Prof. Sunil Kumar Singh, Dr. Satheesh Chandra Shenoi, Prof. Harilal B. Menon, Sri P.A. Vivekananda Pai, and Er. Prasad Shashikanth Rangnekar, whose collective presence marked the formal commencement of the Congress.

 

NCPOR remains steadfast in its commitment to strengthening India’s leadership in polar and ocean sciences and contributing meaningfully towards sustainable ocean governance.
