NCPOR hosted a delegation from New Zealand as a part of Prime Minister’s Scholarship to Asia (PMSA) program, focused on strengthening connections between Christchurch—an Antarctic gateway city—and India’s polar research ecosystem. Dr. Thamban Meloth, Director, NCPOR, shared an overview of India’s polar and ocean research priorities, while Group Directors briefed the delegation on ongoing polar and ocean expeditions and research endeavors. The visit featured immersive experiences at Science on Sphere (#SOS), a Virtual Reality journey to Antarctica, and a tour of the state-of-the-art Ice Core Laboratory. Discussions explored pathways for institutional linkages, joint workshops, research and student engagement, and innovation-led collaboration.
