At the Arctic Circle 2025 – India Forum, MoES-NCPOR organised a high-impact Plenary Session on "Arctic Impact on Asian Climate", highlighting how rapid changes in the Arctic are influencing Asian monsoons and regional climate systems, directly affecting the lives of billions across the continent. This session presented compelling scientific evidence of teleconnections between the Arctic and the tropics, underlining the urgent need for deeper research to strengthen weather prediction models and climate resilience. As session moderator, Dr. Manish Tiwari (NCPOR) provided a comprehensive overview of the Arctic–Indian Monsoon relationship, covering climate evolution over thousands to millions of years. Dr. Avinash Kumar (NCPOR), as an invited speaker, emphasized how Arctic– Indian monsoon teleconnections could significantly enhance monsoon forecasting models, critical for agriculture, water resources, and disaster preparedness in Asia.
