Antarctica Day was celebrated by MoES-NCPOR at IISF2024, held at IIT Guwahati. Dr. Thamban Meloth, Director NCPOR, welcomed gathering and highlighted the day’s significance, while the Chief Guest Dr. M. Ravichandran, Secretary MoES, shared insights on India’s extraordinary. Felicitation address was also delivered by Dr. Satish Shenoy, National Vice-president (VIBHA) Prof. Sunil Kumar Singh, Director, CSIR-NIO, Goa and Dr. Prakash Kumar, Director, CSIR-NGRI, Hyderabad.

Also featured an engaging talk by Dr. Rahul Mohan from NCPOR: “Antarctica: Where Science Meets Adventure.” Attendees also enjoyed a special live interaction with the team at Bharati Station. The session was coordinated by Dr. Avinash Kumar, NCPOR. The Antarctic Day celebration was part of Sagarika – The Tale of Earth Sciences, jointly organized by MoES and NCPOR.
