Dr. Rahul Mohan, Scientist-G & Group Director (Polar Sciences), Ncpor Goa, delivered a keynote talk on "Reorganisation of Southern Ocean Productivity Across Fronts During Glacial Periods: Evidence from Diatom and Coccolith Records" at the 30th Indian Colloquium on Micropaleontology and Stratigraphy (ICMS 2026) at IIT Bhubaneswar.
Using diatom and coccolith microfossil records, he highlighted how shifts in Southern Ocean productivity influenced carbon export and air-sea CO₂ exchange, revealing the ocean's key role in past climate regulation and its relevance for understanding future climate change.
