INDIA at 39th SCAR DELEGATES MEETING 2026

Dr. Thamban Meloth, Director, NCPOR, represented India at the 39th SCAR (Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research) Delegates Meeting, held in Oslo, Norway, from 17–19 August 2026.

Delegates discussed urgent warning signals emerging from Antarctica and the need for coordinated global action. SCAR, together with IASC and WMO, will lead the 5th International Polar Year (IPY-5), bringing the global research community together to advance polar science and address shared global challenges.
