NCPOR organised a one-day workshop for faculty members of BITS Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa Campus, marking the first collaborative activity following the signing of the MoU between the two institutions. The workshop aimed to explore potential academic and research collaborations.
The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. Rahul Mohan, Scientist-G and Group Director (GD), who outlined NCPOR’s mandate and major research programmes. Senior scientists presented key thrust areas: Dr. Shailendra Saini (Sc-F and GD) on the Indian Antarctic Programme; Dr. Manish Tiwari (Sc-F and GD) on India’s Arctic initiatives; Dr. Surya Prakash Lankalapalli (Sc-D and SIC) on Deep Ocean Mission; Dr. Sabu P (Sc-E) on Indian Southern Ocean research; Dr. Vikash Kumar (Sc-D) on AI/ML applications in paleoclimatology; and Anand Jain (Sc-E and SIC) on polar microbial studies.
The programme concluded with lab visits and immersive experience of Science on a Sphere show and virtual tour of Antarctica.
